What are the different grid sizes and mine counts in Minesweeper?

Every time I fire up a new game of Minesweeper, I pick the difficulty based on my mood and how much time I have. But my brother said this tactics had no much of a common sense. It’s wild how the grids can range from small, 9x9 with ten mines, to massive, 30x16 with 99 mines. What grid sizes and mine counts do you prefer to play with, and why? Actually, do you think he's right?
